During Webisode 3, I talked about Sway/Mr. Potential and discussed how many photos we had of this buck during the 3 week trail camera survey. There were so many photos of him and at different locations that I decided to put a video together just of him. This video comes to the conclusion of whether he is Mr. Potential, Sway or the same buck. It also shows his antler development during the summer. Then I go over his travel pattern for the 3 weeks during the survey between 5 different camera locations. This was a real interesting study of a buck that I have never done before. I hope you enjoy the video.

Turkey Thumpers – Webisode 8: Why We Use Hazel Creek Real Turkey Decoys
Thursday, March 24th, 2011Back in April 2008, we went to Colorado to hunt Merriam turkeys, when we met Cally Morris of Hazel Creek Taxidermy. Cally is a world champion taxidermist that also makes real turkey decoys. We used his decoys in Colorado and killed some great turkeys. When Cally got back to Missouri, he sent us a hen and jake set for us to try out. Boy have we used them. We have killed 14 birds using them – 9 Osceolas, 4 Easterns, and 1 Rio Grande. Watch this video of some highlights of these hunts.

Turkey Thumpers – Webisode 7: Finally a Turkey for ME
Thursday, March 17th, 2011The title sounds like frustration on my part, but believe me, it is not. I have had a great year. I started filming hunts and then throw in the fact that I took 3 people who had never turkey hunted and helped 2 of them kill a bird. That alone is a great year! Plus, filming my son kill a big Osceola and my Dad getting a great Eastern makes me a very fortunate man. BUT it is great to get one too. In this video you will see me shoot a great 3 year old bird with a 9.5 inch beard and a little over 1 inch spurs.
Osceola Turkey Scouting – New Bearded Hen
Monday, March 14th, 2011With the Osceola Turkey Season opening March 19th here in northern Florida and youth season March 12th, I have been going to our lease every Saturday morning to sit and listen for gobbling and watch/video feed stations to see what kind of turkey activity we are having. So far, I have only seen a couple of jake gobblers and a whole lot of hens (15 to be exact). I have not seen any mature gobblers, but I am sure they are down there. Plus, I have not heard any substantial gobbling.
I looked for the bearded hen I videoed and wrote about last year (Read this blog and/or watch video) but I have not seen her. I did video a new bearded hen while I was down there. We thought that one of the hens last year had a small beard but we could never confirm it and it looks like she has about a 5 or 6 inch beard. Nothing like the one last year. Maybe she will show up. Enjoy this video of the new bearded hen.

Turkey Thumpers – Webisode 5: The Almost Bow Gobbler
Thursday, March 3rd, 2011Last season I went hunting with a good buddy of mine because he wanted me to video him shooting his first turkey with a bow. As some of you might know, shooting a turkey with a bow is a very challenging endeavor. It was foggy and raining that morning and we both situated in a tent blind. Watch the this video to see what happened to us.
